Lee DeWyze refused to present winner’s trophy to Scotty McCreery

Controversy is brewing in the wake of last night’s “American Idol” season finale – and it has nothing to do with the battle between champ Scotty McCreery and Lauren Alaina.

Apparently, there was some behind-the-scenes trouble with last season’s winner, Lee DeWyze.

DeWyze was seated several rows back in the audience and not directly acknowledged during the telecast, leading some observers to think something had gone down.

The plot thickened earlier today.

Nigel Lythgoe, the show’s executive producer, tweeted, “I was so upset Lee DeWyze wouldn’t present the winners trophy to Scotty. Especially as he’d been on the show this Season. I guess he was shy.”

Kim Kardashian’s Engagement Ring

But it was nevertheless surprising when it emerged this morning that Kim Kardashian‘s baller fiancé Kris Humphries liked it so much he put a 20.5-carat ring on it—after all, you don’t have to be a jewelry expert to know that that’s a lot. (But just for a little perspective, Kate Middleton’s practically-visible-from-space bauble is a cool 18 carats.)

Naturally, it wasn’t long before the estimates started rolling in, with experts speculating that the ring set the NBA star back a whopping $2 million. Forget two months’ salary, that’s almost a year’s worth for Humphries, who last summer extended his option with the New Jersey Nets and pocketed just $3.2 million for the current season.

So is it true? Did Humphries really fork over seven figures for his bride-to-be’s engagement ring? This rumor is…

Christopher Meloni leaves ‘Law & Order: SVU’

christopher-meloniChristopher Meloni has reportedly quit his role in hit cop drama Law And Order: Special Victims Unit after 12 years on air.

The actor, who plays Detective Elliot Stabler opposite Mariska Hargitay in the long-running series, is said to have dropped out of the show’s upcoming 13th season after negotiations with TV bosses broke down, according to TVLine.com.

The website reports series creator Dick Wolf is now searching for a suitable replacement, while Hargitay is expected to return for series 13.

Hargitay, who recently adopted a baby girl, is expected to cut back her role in upcoming episodes and her character will eventually be phased out so she can spend more time with her family.

TV bosses are reportedly considering Jennifer Love Hewitt as the show’s new female lead.
